Jeneka Blog Post 1: Simon Doonan

I like Simon Doonan's 2007 "Green Christmas" Window Display for Barney's because I love companies that are enviormentally friendly. It looks as if many of the materials used in this window display are recycable items which ties in well to the theme. As with many of his displays, I find it so interesting that even with the absence of products Doonan is still able to strongly convey Barney's brand image and at the same time drive traffic into the store.

This is a Simon Donnan creative window display of "Peace & Love made in 2008. Although it was hard to choose, this was my favorites from the Donnan collection. If I was a consumer looking at this window display for the first time it would give me a positive message about the store. I love the colors and the lighting used to bring attention to the Peace sign.

Hello everyone
After doing a few research on Simon Doonan, I am inspired!
Simon Doonan is known as the big one on window display. His work is just amazing. My favorite window display so far from him is the one post it above. The display was for a VeryVery Chic store. I liked this one because it shows more simplicity and it transmit the season this display is meant to be on. The display from what I can see represent a day in autumm. The woman laying down transmit a vibe of relax, enjoying the season. This display it is very simple yet very chic.

This display window is titled "Santa's Fair Trade Sweatshop". The reason why this window display caught my attention was because it's not a typical setup of a window display seen during the Christmas holidays. This window was an eco-friendly display, one of the reasons why I thought it was cool, besides the fact that it is weird, wonderful and wacky.

I like the twisted sense of humor found in this display and how he incorporated fashion with the SNL conehead family.

Barney's Saturday Night Live X-Mas- The Coneheads
The team thought of every detail such as the mona lisa as a conehead, a Con-ie Francis album on the record player, and books such as "Cone With The Wind" and "Conehead Revised" on the book shelf. These details make the window even more unique, because although people might not see it, the details make the window even more outstanding.

Crystal's Activity 1 Assignment Doonan Window Display

This Simon Doonan window display stood out to me the most. I saw and felt the emotions from this display as soon as I saw it.
I found this window display from the link below.

After all I saw, I ochose this one because it caught my eye more than others in the way as being independent. The way he uses the women and the display itself expresses how an independent woman is or she would like to be. In my eye I see the women as a high class, determined, independent woman.

Eva blog post 10

Hello all
I would just like thank everyone for the last 10 weeks.

I am really glad of the final look. Even though we did not have all the materials I do believe it was enough to make a successful display.
Overall, installation took about 3 hours.
We previously made flowers and attached them to wreaths.
With fishing wire we were able to have a clear presentation of the flowers to create movement. The fishing wire was knotted and secured from the wreaths to weights that kept the flowers sturdy. At the end of the installation we were blessed to have found the white window marker because we all knew the black marker was not as visible as we would've liked. It created light and depth to the black marker providing an outline to it. Finally seeing the final picture standing across the street, viewers can see the face of the woman on the window. Lastly, I would like to say that Melanie and Shantel did an amazing job on the other side of the store. The small window was lavished with creativity and it displayed very well.
Once again, I would like to thank everyone for their presence these last weeks.
Enjoy your very much needed time off

Above are images from the visual displays windows for Nube Nove Salon today. We used tissue paper to create the flowers, along with streamers, fishing line, wooden wreaths, and ballon weights for the larger window. The overall process was a lot of work, but equally a lot of fun. Being able to see the vision(s) of our group transformed from paper to the windows was a wonderful feeling. After we finsinhed the display windows, we asked the opinions of people walking by; they seemed to love it. The final result turned out great!

Shantel Blog post 10

Hello everyone,
I most first say the outcome is fabulous. Working in teams can be very challenging but in the end we pulled it together and Make it work (in my Tim Gunn voice)!!!! The windows turned out as planned and the colors are very vibrant. Both designs fit right in together creating an awesome finish. It was a fun learning experience. See you all next term and congrats Alex on graduation. Wish you all the best.

My Experience at Nube Nove

This project was exciting, the thing I loved about it the most was that everything that should of went wrong didnt and everything that went right did. Being that I wasn't on the team to do Nobe Nove it was a pleasure to help and put in some input. I worked on the side window and it made me feel like I was a a real visual merchandiser.
I'M IN LOVE with VISUAL MERCHANDISING.

This window was done by me and was designed by Shantel. Doing this window was such a pleasure and it was fun even thou it was really hot because of the sun beaming in. Thanks to everyonwe who helped and guided me with the placement of the flowers thank you Elisha for being so professional with the entire project and Thank you Shantel for the vision. It was a huge success and it was well worth it.

This window was done by the team and it came out very wonderful the team put in the work and the results showed how hard they worked. Ms. Chelesa did such an AMAZING job drawing the face of the woman, Elisha did an awesome job coming up with this concept. it was bringing alot attention to the store as we were doing it and getting it done. Will did an awesome job as well and Vanity and Eva. Everyone did great and worked well with one another.

Eva Post 9

Hello All!

I visited the FL mall and got to take pictures of a few stores' displays and their lighting arrangements.

The first store I visited was Forever 21
7 Can ceiling lights and one ceiling light that had a green fill to enhance the color scheme of the display.

19 Ceiling lamps. All evenly distributing enough light through the window display.

The Second store was H&M
All Lighting  was used properly and focused on the products. I believe they enhanced the simplicity of the garments.

Can Ceiling Lights

First I counted four and took a closer look, they had a few others hidden

Another H&M window display had 9 Ceiling light bulbs.

The Final Store was Guess & Guess Accessories

Guess had just right amount of lights proportioned through out the display. No glare was shinning in my eyes and there were nothing left out of focus.

Guess Accessories had 6 ceiling light bulbs which could seem as not enough but the backdrop picture of the model was lit and provided enough lighting for the display.
...Side note: take a look at this mannequin for Guess accessories. She is wearing a leaf as a garment. Since they do not carry apparel I thought the staff did an amazing job in repeating the theme through out the display with dressing her like this.
