One of the store I visited is Brooks Brother. The light fixture used in the window are focal light. Each light points directly to the item. The lighting does not interfere with the glass which make it easier to see the item. The window display and the lighting was very clean. Because the lighting is focusing on the garmens and the picture in the back my eyes go directly to the focal points.
Loft window display is very clean. The lighting used was focus light that is right on top of the garment display. The color of the background catch more my attention than the pieces display this time. The lighting was very clean so were the garments.
The Kate spade window display is very bright because of the amount of lighting use for only one Maniquin displayed. 5 focus lights where use to brighten the window. There purpose was not only to bright the manniqui but also the glass images. The lighting was very clean as well as the fixtures displayed in the window. The lighting enhance the window display making the customers look at a bright window.

The three stores I visited were Anthropologie, Kate Spade and Aldo. In Anthropologie the lighting in the window display for Anthropologie is positioned in the ceiling. On the particular window display that I took a picture of, there are nine lighting fixtures. The style of lighting fixtures that are used are spotlights. All if the lights were properly focused on the items that were being featured in the window display. The bulbs are clean and enhanced the display. From my point of view the lighting enhanced the display window because it was set at an angle in order to focus on the merchandise and not on blank floor areas.
The lights in Kate Spade are also positioned in the ceiling. The amount of lighting fixtures that are in their display windows are four on each side. The lighting fixture styles that are used are spotlights. None of the lights used in the display window shine in my eyes, they are all properly focused on the products. All of the bulbs are clean, therefore it enhanced the display. Because of the type of lighting technique that is used in the display window, there was no dark areas. The window display was well lit which enhanced the colors of the featured merchandises.
In Aldo, the lights are positioned in the ceiling. There are two can lights on each side of the display windows and four track lights. None of the lights shine directly in my eyes because they are all properly focused on the products in the window. I don't think the lighting in the window enhances the display. In my opinion, the window display was well lit.

For my three stores in the mall I choose Kate Spade, Aldo Shoes, and Tommy Bahamas.
Kate Spade has light fixtures on the ceiling. Each window display has 5 light fixtures. The light fixtures were spot lights. The lights are properly focused on merchandise. The light bulbs look clean. The lights do enhance the display. The light enhances the display and attracts customer to focus on the merchandise.
Aldo Shoes have four track lights on the ceiling. The lights focus on the merchandise. The bulbs are very clean and indeed enhances the display. The position of the lights most definitely gives the walk by customers a reason to stop and look. It gives the window display a clean crisp look.
This is Tommy Bahamas with can four can lights in the ceiling. All lights are very clean, however the placement or style of lights used doesn't enhance the merchandise. I find the visual too dark for a window display. It does not attract the pass by customers, because I doesn't have an inviting window display. Especially when the lights are not bright. The lights do shin off your eyes and makes a glare on the window.

The lighing in splendid I noticed that this store used track lights in their store to highlight the windows and the merchandise on the inside of the store. On the top of the ceiling in the were 6 can lights focusing directly of the mannequins in the window. Both can and spotlights were used to give the window display a bright feeling .

Banana Republic:
In this store the lighting is positioned on the ceiling. As far as lighting fixtures I see about 4 or 5 spot lights and two flood lights. What they used were the spot lights that you can move around. None of the lights shine directly to your eyes they are all focused on the products facing the window. The bulbs are not visible and the lighting defiantly enhances the display. It mainly focuses on the cluster of mannequins to the left. The lighting makes you focus on the mannequins and the four pants facing the window. Everything else doesn't seem to clutter in the back so much it is very accented.
Juicy Couture:
The juicy couture store does not have as much going on in the window as it does inside. To me it's like two completely different stores. The lighting is placed on the ceiling. They used about 3 or 4 can lights on top to directly shine on the mannequins. Nothing really hits your eyes and the bulbs are properly cleaned. Lighting does enhance the display but according to my perspective I don't think they needed too much lighting. The way the store is in the mall there is a lot of natural sunlight coming in so any other lighting fixtures would drown out the window display.
Ann Taylor:
This is one of my favorite examples of cross merchandising for a window display. All the lights are on the ceiling and they used abut 4. They had the normal can lights to flood the whole window and then 2 or 3 spot lights that really made everything pop out. Nothing shines in your eyes at all. Everything is nicely cleaned and dusted. The lighting defiantly enhances the display but I do feel like there is one mannequin on the left that should have a spot light. From my perspective the lighting makes you look at all the mannequins first then notice all the details in between. I can tell the visual merchandiser focused on an end use with this display.

This week I examined 3 window display's lighting. Michael Kors, Tumi, and Hugo Boss were the 3 stores that I chose to talk about. All three displays had the lights positioned on the ceiling and were very well lit, I could tell that they had factored in the natural lighting when creating the lighting displays.
Michael Kors had hanging track lighting, they had 3 sets of tracks and were positioned on the merchandise in the window as well as the mannequins in the corner of the window. None of the lights were shining in my eyes they were all positioned very well, the bulbs were clean and not spotty. I think that these displays were enhanced by the lighting through the highlighting of the merchandise.
Tumi's lighting was also positioned on the ceiling and they had two sets of track lighting that were positioned on the suitcases. The lights did a wonderful job of bringing out the colors of the luggage. the lights did not shine in my eyes and they were positioned very well on the merchandise, the bulbs were very clean and shined brightly.
Hugo Boss also had the lighting in the ceiling but they had can lighting. The lights were positioned on the display in a way that made your eyes travel around the whole thing . The lights were not positioned in my eyes but they had some metallic pieces that the lights did reflect off of and they shined in my eyes which was unpleasant. The bulbs were clean and the lighting did enhance the display by making it stand out even more than it already did.
